Seattle’s wet climate and urban dust can quickly make your windows dull or grimy. Having them cleaned regularly by Simple Joys offers real benefits:

- Removes pollen, mildew, and airborne contaminants
- Adds instant curb appeal for showings or guests
Professional Seattle window cleaning is safer, faster, and more thorough than doing it yourself — especially on second or third-story windows.

How Often Should You Clean Your Windows in Seattle?
Seattle’s weather plays a big role in how often your windows need cleaning. Between frequent rain, coastal winds, and pollen buildup, most homes benefit from professional window cleaning at least twice a year.
At Simple Joys, we recommend the following schedule:
- Every 3 to 6 months for standard residential homes
- Quarterly if you live near high-traffic roads, trees, or water
- Monthly or bi-monthly for storefronts or homes with large glass features
Regular window cleaning not only improves your home’s appearance but also helps prevent damage from dirt, moisture, and hard water spots. By staying on schedule, you’ll enjoy clearer views and longer-lasting windows all year round.

Seattle Window Cleaning FAQs
Looking for answers about our window cleaning services in Seattle? We’ve gathered the most common questions to help you understand how we work and what to expect.
How do you count windows?
We generally count one window as 1–2 panes of glass up to about 5 feet tall by 6 feet wide. For homes with a variety of window sizes or styles, we may count by individual panes instead to keep things consistent. We also take the window’s height from ground level into account, which can affect pricing.
If you’re ever unsure how your windows will be counted, we’re happy to provide a free on-site estimate, or you’re welcome to send us photos of each side of the house for an exact quote.
Do you clean both inside and outside windows?
Yes, we offer exterior-only or full interior and exterior window cleaning.
How often should I have my windows cleaned?
As a general rule of thumb, we recommend cleaning your windows at least once a year. However, this can vary depending on your specific needs and environment. For example, homes with windows near heavy tree coverage or busy streets typically get dirtier due to pollen, sap, leaves, and other debris.
What do you use in the window cleaning solution?
Do you remove [hard water stains/paint/new construction stickers] from windows?
Our standard window cleaning focuses on removing dirt, dust, and streaks, but it does not include deep stain removal (e.g., hard water stains) or post-construction cleanup (e.g., paint, adhesive, or sticker residue). If your windows require construction cleanup or paint removal, we can provide a separate quote for this service. Pricing typically ranges from a 15–35% upcharge, depending on the condition of the windows and level of buildup.
Why does my glass still have water spots?
What if my window screens can’t be removed from the outside?
We would need you to either allow our technician inside to remove them or take them out and leave them outside before our arrival. If left outside, we will place them back in the same spots where they were found.
What if my windows don’t have screens, can I have a discount?
Our window pricing is based on the glass cleaning itself, and we aim to keep our rates competitive across the board. Light cleaning of screens and tracks is included as a complimentary courtesy when they’re present, but it doesn’t impact the base cost of the service.
Even if there are no screens to clean, the time and care we dedicate to the glass remains the same—so pricing stays consistent either way.
Why don’t you clean interior skylights?
We can assess the interior to determine if it’s possible, but we typically don’t offer this service due to safety and accessibility challenges. Many skylights are located in tight, tall spaces where ladder access is tricky or unsafe. In some cases, the ladders required for the job can’t be safely maneuvered indoors, or there’s no secure place to position them. Even when we can set up a ladder, the space above may be too confined to work safely.
Why is there no tax on window cleaning?
In Washington State, window cleaning is classified as housekeeping, not maintenance, which makes it a non-taxable service. Other exterior cleaning services may be subject to tax depending on how they are classified under state regulations.
